Non-invasive Versus Invasive Skin Tightening Techniques

Before you select a specific skin tightening procedure, you might want to carefully explore all your options. Each one has its own benefits and drawbacks. The two main types of skin tightening procedures out there include invasive ones and non-invasive ones.

Invasive (Surgical) Skin Tightening

This type of skin tightening procedure is sometimes preferred by people. The main reason why is because the results are more permanent. Therefore, chance that follow-up or repeat an appointment once the surgery has been performed is greatly reduced.

However, this type of procedure also has its disadvantages. Usually during a surgical skin tightening procedure a surgeon will enter a region of the body (i.e. the face) that is especially vascular, and thus, especially prone to infection. Of course, this can be avoided as long as stringent sanitation procedures are followed.

However, the other main concern of this type of treatment is that the recovery time is longer. This is fine as long as you can take time off of work or other important activities if needed. However, if you can afford the longer recovery times it may be most beneficial to you.

Of course, this type of skin tightening method is also more costly. That is something to consider as well.

Non-Invasive Skin Tightening

There are many treatments offered that are safe, and non-invasive. These types often usually cost more than the invasive procedures as well.

These methods of skin tightening involve one or more of the following processes: Thermage treatments, Botox injections, or laser treatment. These are all used for different purposes and often require shorter recovery times.

One of the only disadvantages to some people is that repeat appointments are made. That is because this is a less permanent solution. Therefore, although the up front cost is lower in the long run it could end up resulting in more expense to the patient.

On the other hand, the non-invasive treatments are usually safer than the surgical types. There has been far less complications and fatalities associated with these procedures than the surgical types.

Why Skin Tightening?

As you seek out your options you may be questioning how important this procedure really is. Is it necessary to your overall sense of mental well being, or to your emotional or physical health? For most people this is a very personal matter.

Skin tightening procedures are usually sought by people who wish to look younger. It also helps improve the quality of skin in people whose skin has been damaged by the sun. Overall, to some people it may be worth it.

They may have been able to improve their appearance in order to land more job opportunities. Either that or they may have become more socially confidence as more people's heads turn when they walk by.

However, most importantly these people have somehow found a way to feel better about themselves. Part of that is in the way these new treatments have made them feel. This is not the only method of improving self-esteem but for many people it has helped overall.
